Late fall 1944, the 101st Airborne troopers prepare to leave The Island.
A trooper poses for a picture with a dog, his seaborne-roll over his shoulder,
M1 at the ready. Helmetnet visible, standing on a muddy dike.

Other troopers prepare to cross the river. No direct danger at this time since the picture
was taken with a flashlight. M1 rifles, gloves, bayonets on the left hip. The trooper in the
middle is wearing a jeepcap or a wool knitted cap.

The last picture shows some officers leaving with their jeep. Tents in the background, a
webbingset op the hood of the jeep (canteen and pouches clearly visible).
Jeep number W-20356737-S, likely with a wirecutter or hook welded to the bumber.
Appears to be sandy ground, no mud. In the topleft corner a second jeep.
